AC Milan are looking at Roma to find a substitute for Franck Kessie according to La Repubblica.
AC Milan central midfielder Franck Kessie will leave the club at the end of the season as a free agent. The 25-year-old has refused to sign a new contract with the Rossoneri and the management has no intention to offer him a better deal. Maldini and Massara are already working to find his successor.
According to La Repubblica, AC Milan are looking again at Jordan Veretout. The French midfielder has been one of the best in his position in Serie A for the last two years. However, José Mourinho seems to prefer now new signing Sergio Oliveira more.
The Roma coach apparently no longer consider him a starter and Veretout risks falling down the perking order. Contract renewal talks have halted and with his current deal expiring in 2024 the chances of Roma selling Veretout in the summer are quite high.
Jordan Veretout was very close to joining AC Milan in 2019 but the Rossoneri failed to agree a transfer fee with Fiorentina. Instead, the Rossoneri purchased Ismael Bennacer. On paper, the 28-year-old France international seems to be a perfect replacement for Franck Kessie.
Veretout has made 31 appearances with Roma so far, scoring 4 goals and assisting 8. Renato Sanches is the other name on Maldini’s list of targets but the salary demands of the Portuguese midfielder could be an obstacle difficult to overcome. On the other hand, the Roma midfielder earns 3 million per season. A figure that is well in line with Elliott’s guidelines.
