Coach Stefano Pioli is preparing the upcoming match against Cagliari but two AC Milan players could be absent.
On Saturday, AC Milan will travel to Sardinia to face Cagliari. The Rossoneri want to continue their winning streak while Cagliari are trying to avoid relegation this season. The first leg match ended 4-1 in favor of the Rossoneri.
The good news for Stefano Pioli’s team is the return of Theo Hernandez. The French left-back was suspended for one match and missed the Empoli game. However, two key players could be absent for Cagliari-Milan.
The presence of Sandro Tonali is seriously in doubt. The Italian central midfielder did not train at Milanello today because he’s got a fever. Pioli hopes to have the 21-year-old under his orders as soon as possible because his presence, or not, will influence significantly his formation choices.
If Tonali recovers in time he will play alongside Ismael Bennacer with Franck Kessie deployed in the attacking midfielder role. Otherwise it will be Bennacer and Kessie to form the central duo with Brahim Diaz returning in his natural role behind the entre forward, whose name is also in doubt.
Olivier Giroud has just returned to train with the rest of the group. Further evaluations will be carried out tomorrow but, if Giroud doesn’t make it, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is ready to start from the first minute.
