A top player in midfield, is what AC Milan and its sports director Massimiliano Mirabelli have promised to Mr. Gattuso for next summer. Kevin Strootman is the most appealing name.
The Rossoneri are obviously lacking quality alternatives in the middle of the field and the sports director Mirabelli, as mentioned, is already moving to find a new midfield to fill the void. Dutch central Kevin Strootman seems to be one of the most concrete names for next summer. The 28 year old midfielder of Roma is considered by Tuttosport as the ideal transfer target given his ability to play both as a mezzala and as metronome in front of the defense like he does with the Netherlands national.
The name of Strootman is certainly not new in AC Milan orbit but he could soon become much more attractive given his 32 million euros release clause (valid for next summer) that makes his services reachable and not too expensive considering the costs of other international players of equal level. Inter had already inquired last year for Strootman, a Luciano Spalletti protege, and will try to make another bid for him in the coming months. A new derby on the horizon.
Till January, 45 million were needed to snatch Strootman from Roma. The Dutch international has been a target of the Rossoneri since his time at PSV but in 2013 the red and blacks withdrew their bid and he joined Roma for less than 20 million.
