Arnaut Danjuma is having a fantastic season with Villarreal but the Dutch winger was very close to AC Milan in the past.
Arnaut Danjuma has been a sensation this season with Villarreal. The 25-year-old Dutch left winger was one of the big protagonists in Villarreal’s stunning 3-0 victory against Juventus knocking the Italians out of the Champions League.
Danjuma joined Villarreal last summer for nearly 24 million euros but it’s money well spend from the yellow submarine. The Spanish club have in their squad one of the most wanted players across Europe with a bidding war set to start when the summer transfer window opens.
However, Arnaut Danjuma was very close to joining AC Milan two years ago. Danjuma’s agent, Michael Jarma, confirms what acmilaninfo.com had reported in that period. “AC Milan wanted to buy Danjuma in the January market of 2019 when he was playing for Clube Brugge but the two clubs could not find an agreement on the transfer fee“.
The Rossoneri were reluctant to spend €20 million for a player who had impressed in Belgium but at the same time had missed much of the season because of an ankle injury. At the end the Netherlands winger move to Bournemouth for around €16 million. He failed to leave his mark in the Premier League but is doing much better in Spain.
This season Danjuma has scored 13 goals and assisted 4 in 26 appearances helping Villarreal reach the Champions League quarter-finals. The 25-year-old has a €75million release clause built into his contract which can be triggered at any time. Liverpool are the club mostly interested in his services.
