AC Milan have made Lille defender Sven Botman their priority target with Maldini pushing to secures his signature.
The transfer plans of AC Milan were changed after learning that the season is over for Simon Kjaer. The Denmark defender suffered a muscle injury that will keep him out for at least six months. Immediately, the Rossoneri started to look on the market for a new centre back.
Journalist Antonio Vitiello reports that AC Milan are insisting for Lille star Sven Botman. The towering centre back is in fact Paolo Maldini’s preferred target to strengthen the back line.
The 21-year-old Netherlands international had a fantastic season last year helping Lille achieve unprecedented success in France winning the Ligue 1 and the Super Cup. Botman has attracted the interest of several big clubs with his great performances. Performances that have seen his price tag raise to 30 million euros.
Botman has a contract with the French club until 2025 and Lille have no intention to let him leave unless their asking price is matched. Paolo Maldini is reportedly a big admirer of Botman and is pushing to convince Elliott Management to approve a significant investment for a player with huge potential.
This season Botman has made 15 appearances with the French clubs playing a key role in their Champions League success. AC Milan and Lille have often done business together in recent years. Meanwhile the 21-year-old has already contacted his close friend Mike Maignan to ask him about life in Italy.
