Former AC Milan left winger Stephan El Shaarawy is rumored to take the place of Ante Rebic in a sensation return to San Siro.
AC Milan will very likely be signing two wingers this summer. A big priority is that on the right with both Alexis Salemaekers and Junior Messias unable to provide the necessary number of goals. El Shaarawy spent four seasons at AC Milan between 2011 and 2015. The 30-year-old Italy international was a beacon of hope in the difficult 2012/13 season scoring 19 goals but was unable to keep the same pace in the following season. He eventually left to play for Roma on two separate spells and a return to AC Milan is looking highly probable.
There are a number of reasons pushing AC Milan towards the signing of Stephan El Shaarawy. First he’s Italian, will not occupy a non-EU slot, and will be helpful for the UEFA player list restrictions. In addition, he’s an experienced player and available on a free transfer. Finally, El Shaarawy is well familiar with the AC Milan environment and Serie A so he will require no time to adapt. A serious and professional footballer who is considered an improvement on Ante Rebic.
There has already been meeting between the parties and Stephan El Shaarawy has given his full availability to return to AC Milan. The Pharaoh is closing a positive season on a personal level scoring 8 goals and assisting 2 in 39 appearances, mostly as a substitute. AC Milan will continue to evaluate the situation before making a final decision.
