New Roma coach Jose Mourinho wants to sign Diogo Dalot. AC Milan look uninterested on a permanent transfer.
One of the most unexpected news of recent weeks was certainly the appointment of Jose Mourinho as the new Roma coach. The former coach of Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham will take over from Paulo Fonseca at the end of the season.
Dan Friedkin, who became the new owner of the Giallorossi club in August 2020, wants to focus on the controversial Portuguese coach to bring the team back to the top. He has made a significant economic effort offering Mourinho 7 million per season plus investments guarantees on the summer transfer market.
One of the first players Mourinho would like at Roma is Diogo Dalot. Journalist Nicolo Schira reports that the Portuguese right back will likely remain in Serie A for next season but not at Milan.
Manchester United are open to sell Dalot this summer and are even reportedly willing to lower their asking price from 20 to 15 million. Nevertheless, the Rossoneri are not interested. The 22-year-old must find a new club.
It was Mourinho who signed Dalot when he was coach of the Red Devils. There is a good relationship between the two and Roma have already contacted Manchester United to discuss a possible transfer. Among the current right backs, Bruno Peres, Davide Santon and Bryan Reynolds are expected to leave. The capitol club has already has set their sight on the replacement.
