Red Bull Salzburg young striker Roko Simic has attracted the attention of AC Milan with his talent and potential.
Red Bull Salzburg gem Roko Simic was one of the players that AC Milan considered signing this summer. The Rossoneri scouts followed him on a number of occasions and reports on his potential have been stellar. Coincidentally, one of those scouts is his father Dario Simic. The former defender that won every possible trophy with the Red and Blacks.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Dario Simic confirms AC Milan’s interest in his son. “We talked internally at AC Milan about Roko but in the end he went elsewhere. Roko is a young player born in 2003 and the Red Bull group wanted him to play for Salzburg“.
Red Bull Salzburg invested around €4 million to buy the Croatian centre forward from Lokomotiv Zagreb. At the beginning of his experience in Austria Roko Simic was sent on loan to Liefering. He did great scoring 19 goals and assisting 3 in 24 appearances.
Roko also has 7 goals in 10 appearances with the Croatian Under-21 team. The 19-year-old seems destined for greatness. Simic returned at Salzburg this summer and will try make his breakthrough in a squad filled with young and very talented players. Real Madrid and Arsenal are also keeping tabs on his situation.
Simic senior also talked about his work as an AC Milan scout in the interview: “We work as a team, then Maldini and Massara decide. Moncada is my boss, I talk to him every day. As a principle, we try to be fast, because abroad – the British, but not only – have budgets that we cannot compete with“.
The former defender explained what types of footballers the club is seeking: “We are looking for profiles suitable for modern football. Of course, sometimes they cost 50-70-80 million and you have to go get them first. Other clubs pay for the potential, which Milan cannot always do, also because Serie A is not easy. The level has increased a lot recently“.
