AC Milan have completed the sale of Milas Kerkez to AZ Alkmaar. The young left-back was considered the new Theo Hernandez.
In the remaining days of the January window AC Milan are trying to sign a central defender. At the same time the management is working on a couple of exits. The Rossoneri are negotiating with Valencia for Samuel Castillejo after having completed the sale of Milos Kerkez.
Kerkez will leave Milan Primavera to join Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. The highly rated 18-year-old left-back departs exactly one year after arriving at the Rossoneri. AC Milan and AZ Alkmaar have completed the transfer of Milos Kerkez for a fee of 2 million euros. The Rossoneri will not have a buy-back clause in their favor according to reports.
AC Milan have recorded a captain gain with the sale of Kerkez to AZ Alkmaar. The Hungarian talented arrived in Italy in February 2021 for €200,000 from FC Gyor. Thus the Rossoneri secure 1.8 million in profits for a player who has never officially made his debut in Stefano Pioli’s First Team.
The fact that he was sold in Netherlands is a sign that Milan no longer believed in Kerkez, a full-back who was considered a prodigy when he joined the Rossoneri. The 18-year-old is part of the Hungarian Under-21 national team and the Red and Blacks had to beat the competition of Juventus and other European clubs for his signature one year ago. AC Milan had identified Kerkez as the long-term heir of Theo Hernandez but the career of the young defender will now continue with the AZ Alkmaar shirt.
Medical examinations will be carried in the next few hours. Milos will sign a three-year contract with Alkmaar reports journalist Nicolo Schira. Kerkez was very enthusiastic about his arrival at Milan in 2021 and having been chosen by Paolo Maldini. However, he failed to make the jump to the first team. His departure caught everyone by surprise considering the high hopes Milan had for the Hungarian gem. A talented player that is being offload too soon? Only time will sell.
