Manchester City plan to sign a new left-back in January and AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez tops Guardiola’s list of transfer targets.
Ever since joining AC Milan, Theo Hernandez has been a revelation. The French left-back immediately became a key player for Stefano Pioli’s side. In his two season with the Rossoneri the 23-year-old has recorded 83 appearances across all competitions scoring 15 goals and assisting 14.
The former Real Madrid has established himself as one of the best full-backs in Serie A and across Europe. AC Milan spent around 22 million euros to purchase Hernandez from Real Madrid and now the market value of the French defender has more than tripled.
Theo’s great form has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs like PSG and Manchester City. The French club made an attempt this summer but Milan immediately rejected their approach and did not enter in negotiations. The Premier League giants are still keen on Theo Hernandez.
Calciomercato.com reports that Manchester City want to sign a new left-back in January and Theo is high on Pep Guardiola’s list of targets. City defender Benjamin Mendy is suspended following several changes and his career at the England champions is considered over.
Guardiola is already moving to find Mendy’s substitute and Theo Hernandez would be the perfect left-back for Manchester City’s style of play. However, AC Milan consider their star defender an untouchable player and only a very high offer could tempt the Rossoneri to sell. The French has a contract with the Red and Blacks until 2024.
