AC Milan see Serie A star as Biglia heir
The injury crisis has forced AC Milan to look for repairs and Sassuolo star Stefano Sensi has emerged as one of the candidates to replace Lucas Biglia.
During the summer transfer window new sporting director Leonardo tried to bring a top level midfielder at San Siro. Unfortunately due to the circumstances at the time, the Brazilian had only 20 days at his disposal to manage the entire club, including all the transfer operations. Time was in short supply and Leo, despite signing Higuain, Castillejo, Laxalt and Caldara, was unable to find the perfect midfielder. Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko was the only opportunity the marked had to offer.
The issue was not forgotten, it was only postponed for January. However, the unexpected injury of Lucas Biglia (out for 4 months) and Bonaventura (out 5 months) made matters worse. The Argentine central midfielder is crucial for AC Milan’s game as the Italian and their absence for such a long period is a huge problem for coach Gennaro Gattuso. Rino has adapted Bakayoko in that position but only because it is the only choice he had. Other alternatives like Jose Mauri, Andrea Bertolacci and Riccardo Montolivo have rarely played this season and Gattuso clearly doesn’t trust them.
A new signing in midfield was planned even before Bilgia’s injury but the recent situation may push Milan to sign two central midfielders instead of one. The latest transfer target of the Rossoneri is Sassuolo star Stefano Sensi. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan have been impress with the start of the season by the fresh Italy international.
Former Rossoneri player Kevin Prince Boateng spared no praise for teammate Sensi comparing him to PSG star Marco Verrati: “He has so much quality, he is the little Verrati, I always say because he has everything like him and he just has to be constant and if he is consistent he can play in any European top club. He has everything, he is aggressive, he is skillful, he gives perfect pass, he has perfect control, he surprises me the most, to be honest“.
Leonardo apparently shares the same belief and considers Stefano Sensi as the right player to collect Biglia’s legacy. There have not been official contacts with Sassuolo so far because Milan want to wait and see the progress of the 23 year old until December before greenlighting a move. The fact that Sensi is a versatile player and can cover many roles in midfield is something that Leo and Gattuso appreciate a lot.
Stefano Sensi
The relationship between the two clubs is excellent as demonstrated by the transfer of Manuel Locatelli to Sassuolo in the summer. La Gazzetta reveals also that after Sassuolo-Milan, won by the Rossoneri 1-4, Leonardo met Sensi and complimented him personally for his performance. A good display despite the end result. In addition, Stefano Sensi has a lower cost that Leandro Paredes, other transfer target for the midfield. While Zenit don’t accept to negotiate for a fee lower than 30 million euros, AC Milan can purchase the young Italian for less the 20.
