Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek is reportedly being eyed by AC Milan as the possible replacement of Higuain in case the Argentine leaves in the summer.
According to SportMediaset, AC Milan have joined the race for Krzysztof Piatek. The 23 year old Genoa star has been a revelation this season in Italy scoring a total of 19 goals in 21 appearances. His great form has attracted the attention of many European top clubs including Milan.
The Rossoneri have in fact identified the Polish striker as the possible replacement of Gonzalo Higuain in case AC Milan reject to extend his stay at San Siro. At the end of the season Milan must decide whether to sign Higuain on a permanent basis for 36 million euros.
El Pipita has been linked with a move to Chelsea where he would find his old coach Maurizio Sarri. Though the official position of Milan is to keep Higuain, failure to qualify for Champions League would make his purchase very difficult, also considering that Argentine striker is now 31 years old.

Genoa director Giorgio Perinetti in an interview today acknowledged that Milan are interested in signing Piatek but have not presented any offer so far. Genoa have publicly expressed to value Piatek at 60 million euros but the realistic price of the player would be 40 million. In any case, whether Higuain remains or leaves, AC Milan want to be prepared.
