Manchester United are trying to exploit AC Milan’s lack of progress in renewal talks with Hakan Calhanoglu.
The contract expiring in the summer of 2021 makes Hakan Calhanoglu a player that is coveted by many clubs. The Turkish midfielder has many admirers especially in the Bundesliga and in England.
Renewal talks with AC Milan are still in stand-by and no meeting is scheduled with the Rossoneri management. This week Paolo Maldini is on vacation while the entourage of Hakan in Germany, so the feeling is that they could return to talk to each other in late August.
In the meantime, however, Hakan Calhanoglu has received calls from several clubs outside Italy. Among these there is Manchester United according to MilanNews.it.
With his contract expiring in one year, Manchester United see Calhanoglu as a great opportunity to sign a very good player without spending astronomical figures. The Rossoneri should be worried because, although Hakan wants to stay at Milan, he has often expressed his desire to play in Champions League.
AC Milan spent nearly 24 million euros to buy Hakan Calhanoglu from Bayer Leverkusen in 2017. He was very crucial for the Rossoneri this season, especially after the lockdown, scoring 11 goals and and assisting 9 in 38 appearances.
