AC Milan interested in Liverpool star

Georginio Wijnaldum

AC Milan are interested in Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum who is about to become a free agent at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri management is preparing for the January transfer window. Among the priorities of the club, and a specific request of coach Stefano Pioli, is the signing of a new central midfielder. Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum is the new name on Paolo Maldini’s list.

According to reports by TodoFichajes, the Rossoneri are thinking of Wijnaldum who has not renewed his current contract with Liverpool. In this case AC Milan would be taking advantage of the tax breaks that the country offers, significantly reducing  the cost of his salary.

The Netherlands midfielder becomes a free agent at the end of the season. He was very close to joining Barcelona in the summer but the parties failed to reach an agreement and no progress has been made in talks with Liverpool.

Wijnaldum joined the Reds in 2016 for a transfer fee of 27.5 million euros from Newcastle. The 30-year-old has played a crucial part in Liverpool’s success in the Premier League and Champions League.

In his five years at Anfield Road, Georginio Wijnaldum has played nearly 200 matches with Liverpool and has made 69 appearances with the Netherlands national team. For his signature, Milan will have to battle with Inter. The city rivals are also interested in his services.
