From Spain: Real Madrid star to replace Higuain

Don Balon reports that Real Madrid star Karim Benzema will replace Gonzalo Higuain at Milan with the Argentine set to join Chelsea.

Everyone thought that the Gonzalo Higuain issue was finally resolved but apparently not. During Lucas Paqueta’s presentation yesterday sporting director Leonardo openly criticized the Argentine striker and invited him to start performing for AC Milan rather than thinking about transfer rumors and gossip.

English media confirms that the situation at Milan is tense while Marca reported yesterday that El Pipita has already accepted an offer form Chelsea. The Argentine wants to join his former coach Sarri in London. The Spanish papers also reports that it’s not going to be Alvaro Morata but rather Karim Benzema of Real Madrid to replace Higuain at Milan.

According to Don Balon, the Rossoneri are trying to sign Benzema on loan with the right to buy set at 40 million euros. The 31 year old striker is in his 10th season at Bernabeu. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez aims for a total overhaul of the team this summer and Benzema is not part of the future.

The experienced striker has scored 12 goals in 29 appearances this season but Real Madrid are continually struggling for form this year. If Benzema really were to join Milan he would earn the same as Higuain, 9 million euros per season per 3 years.
