After Tonali, Milan trying to steal another top talent from Inter
AC Milan snatched Sandro Tonali under Inter’s nose and now Paolo Maldini is trying to repeat himself for another top talent.
AC Milan shocked Italian football when they completed the signing of Sandro Tonali from Brescia. For months, the Italian midfielder was considered to be an Inter player but Paolo Maldini was great moving underground and snatching an absolute talent like Tonali from the city-rivals. Now Maldini is aiming to repeat the same feat.
Another top transfer target of Inter and Antonio Conte is Marash Kumbulla. The Albanian defender of Hellas Verona excelled in his first season in Serie A attracting the attention of many top clubs. Just like Tonali, Kumbulla seemed sure to join Inter this summer. However, things have changed.
Inter have failed to make significant sales and can’t purchase the 20-year-old centre back. Thus the Nerazzurri are negotiating a verbal agreement for next year. A situation that AC Milan are trying to exploit. Romagnoli and Kjaer are not enough and the Rossoneri need another centre back to improve their back line.
Kumbulla is a player that fits perfectly Elliot’s transfer philosophy. The Rossoneri have scouted him on several games last season. reports Corriere dello Sport. In the last few hours Lazio have reignited their interest in Kumbulla after the recent controversy surrounding Francesco Acerbi’s renewal. According to Corriere dello Sport, Lazio are offering 20 million euros plus Andre Anderson.
For now, Milan have not submitted any offers but Marash Kumbulla‘s name is high on Frederic Massara and Paolo Maldini’s list of targets for the defence. The management is currently engaged in other matters and the arrival of a new centre back will take time until the end of the summer transfer window.
