AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain has decided to leave for Chelsea reports Il Corriere dello Sport with a deal to be completed after the Super Cup final.
Il Corriere dello Sport has no doubts and opens today’s edition with the big headline “Higuain has decided“. On the front page, the Italian newspaper adds: “Farewell to Milan just a step away, El Pipita wants Chelsea. Contacts between AC Milan and Chelsea have intensified with Alvaro Morata set to take the opposite track“.
The Gonzalo Higuain situation is far from being resolved apparently. The Argentine striker wants to join his former coach Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea but a deal, according to CorSport, will be completed only after the Super Cup final against Juventus.
In an interview with Milan TV on today’s Coppa Italia match with Sampdoria coach Gennaro Gattuso refused to rule out the departure of Higuain in January. “Higuain is fit. If he hadn’t trained the way I want he wouldn’t play today against Sampdoria. There are speculations about his future but his attitude is great. Leonardo has been speaking with his agent. I hope Gonzalo remains here as much time as possible. If he won’t we’ll see. During his time here he has to show the same commitment he is having now“.
If Milan really sign Morata to lead the attack that would be a return in Italy for the Spanish striker. The 26 year old enjoyed two very successful years at Juventus between 2014 and 2016 before returning to Real Madrid. AC Milan tried to purchase him in the summer of 2017 but he joined Chelsea instead.
