AC Milan change priority in attack
Sky Sport reports that AC Milan will not sign a centre forward in January and in fact the new arrival is going to be a winger.
In two weeks the January transfer window officially opens. With the recovery of Alessio Romagnoli and Matteo Musacchio it seems like sporting director Leonardo is reluctant to make additional investments in that department (read here in detail).
The Brazilian is in search of a top midfielder but the purchase of a new forward is the second most important issues on Leonardo’s list. At the moment Gonzalo Higuain and Patrick Cutrone are the only two available strikers coach Gennaro Gattuso has at his disposal so another player is guaranteed to come.
With Zalatan Ibrahimovic no longer an option AC Milan are looking at other names. However, the ideal profile is in fact a surprise. Sky Sport reports that the Rossoneri will certainly make a signing but unlike what many had expected the new arrival is going to be a winger and not a centre forward.
According to Sky, AC Milan’s interest in Gabigol indicates that the Rossoneri have changed strategy and will opt for a winger or a second striker rather than a traditional number 9. Even Sevilla’s Luis Muriel fits the profile.
The potential signing of a winger shows that Milan will play with a 4-3-3 lineup for the second part of the season. Coach Gennaro Gattuso is convinced that the current 4-4-2 isolates the two strikers up front because Suso and Calhanoglu are forced to play in midfield rather than in their natural positions. The arrival of a new winger could offer interesting alternatives while it would push Samu Castillejo to act as false nine in times of need.
