AC Milan in negotiations with Chelsea for 3 players
AC Milan have entered negotiations with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia for three Blues stars that are looking to abandon Stamford Bridge in January.
GARY CAHILL – Centre Back
The Rossoneri fans were caught by surprise when English media first revealed that Chelsea had offered AC Milan one of their most decorated players for free. In fact, 32 year old centre back Gary Cahill has been proposed to the Rossoneri on loan for the remaining of the season.
Cahill’s contract expires in the summer of 2019 but Chelsea are willing to let him go in January as a reward for his service during all these years. At Casa Milan, centre back are in short supply and an experienced veteran like Cahill could be a good solution for the current injury crisis.
The 61 times capped England international would bring precious experience at San Siro and can give a helping hand in Romagnoli and Caldara’s progress. The arrival of a player for free would allow Leonardo to sign another defender or invest more money in other areas.
Gary Cahill
There are two factors that sporting director Leonardo must take into consideration before making a final decision on such an interesting alternative. First, the player’s age. Gary Cahill turns 33 in one month and there are doubts over his long-term reliability. The second is economic. The defender ears around 8 million euros at Chelsea and it’s unclear if he can lower his demands to 3 million, the salary Milan intend to offer to a top defender.
