Elliot blocks the signing of Maldini’s target
AC Milan owner Elliot Management does not seem to agree with the purchase of Serge Aurier asking Maldini to look at other names.
The singing of a new right back is a priority for AC Milan. With Davide Calabria and Andrea Conti unconvincing, the Rossoneri turned their attention to an old transfer target like Tottenham’s Serge Aurier who very probably will leave the London club this summer.
A hypothesis appreciated by Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, who see Aurier as an important opportunity to inject quality and experience in the back line.
However, Elliott Management does not feel the same way. In fact, as reported by Calciomercato, the American fund is against investing 20 million euros to bring Aurier in Serie A.
The main reason concerns the defender’s age. The Rossoneri feel that the 20 million figure is exaggerated for a 28-year-old player. Elliot again prefers to invest in players under 24-25 years like Theo Hernandez or Ismael Bennacer.
Furthermore, Elliot does not like certain behavioral precedents of Aurier. In 2016, when he played with PSG, he was ousted from the first team for insulting coach Laurent Blanc with homophobic epithets. And a certain Zlatan Ibrahimovic also ended up in Aurier’s sights…
