With only Higuain and Cutrone in AC Milan’s roster the Rossoneri will sign a new striker in January to complete the squad.
The unexpected ownership change during the summer left no time for sporting director Leonardo to move on the market as he would have wanted. The Brazilian signed Mattia Caldara, Gonzalo Higuain, Samu Castillejo, Dieog Laxalt and Tiemoue Bakayoko but still some work remains to be done. So far the Rossoneri have purchased Lucas Paqueta however a new striker is expected to join the Serie A giants on January.
Coach Gennaro Gattuso has only two strikers at his disposal, El Pipita and Patrick Cutrone. Until now the Italian youngster served as Higuain’s substitute but the recent formation change, from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 (3-5-2 against Genoa) allows the two centre forwards to coexist up front. This move, however, has created a new problem. If one of the two needs a rest or gets injured, Rino has no substitutions up front.
Sporting director Leonardo is monitoring several targets for January but whoever is selected to join the Rossoneri he will be AC Milan’s third striker. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a possibility like Alexandre Pato, Liverpool’s Divock Origi and Brazilian new striking star Pedro Guilherme. Now Il Corriere Dello Sport reports that Leo is considering a new cheap option.
Former Rossoneri striker Alessandro Matri has offered himself to the club. In recent contacts with AC Milan’s management Matri has expressed his desire to return at San Siro and finish his career in the club where he started as a youth player reveals CorSport.
Alessandro Matri playing for AC Milan
The Italian newspaper reveals that Alessandro Matri has an excellent relationship with managing duo Leonardo and Paolo Maldini. It could be an important factor but nonetheless Matri’s return at San Siro seems far-fetched. The Rossoneri fans expect a bigger player considering the names being linked and not just a bench alternative like Alessandro Matri.
