AC Milan are now focusing on the signing of a new centre forward with the Porto veteran leading the race.
AC Milan have almost completed their plan for the midfield. Ruben-Loftus Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders have joined Stefano Pioli’s squad while another midfield is set to arrive very soon with Yunus Musah being the favorite. Now, the management have shifted their enitre focus on signing a new centre forward with Mehdi Taremi leading the race.
Alvaro Morata and Gianluca Scamacca are no longer on the Rossoneri’s radar due to their excessive costs. Mehdi Tarem is currently the number one target to strengthen the attack. His fate is closely linked to that of Samuel Chukwueze. Both are non European players and Milan have only one non-EU slot available. However, the chances of landing Chukwueze are slowly fading with Villarreal standing firm on their 35 million request.
Negotiations to sign Taremi from Porto are really advanced. The 31-year-old Iran international has a contract with Porto until 2024 but Porto are currently demanding a €25 million fee for his services . Sky Sport reports that the Portuguese have already rejected an opening bid from AC Milan for Taremi.
AC Milan and Porto have intensified contacts in recent days. The Rossoneri want to lower Porto’s asking price to no more than €20 million. Taremi is a proven goal scorer but his contract expires in one year and he has just turned 31. An improved bid is expected in the coming days. Personal terms have already been agreed with the player.
The Iranian striker has been in sensational form since arriving in Portugal in 2019. Taremi has scored 80 goals and provided 49 assists in 147 appearances with Porto across three seasons. It looks like the Porto striker is more than ready to play for a top club despite the legitimate concerns about his age.
