Massara tasked to bring Roma player at Milan
Frederic Massara has been given the task to bring at AC Milan his former player at Roma: Riccardo Calafiori.
Roma left back Riccardo Calafiori is one of the brightest talents in Italian football. The 18-year-old defender is a prospect with great potential for the future. His contract expires in June 2022 and negotiations with Mino Raiola are not progressing positively.
Corriere dello Sport reports that the Giallorossi club have offered Calafiori the renewal with wages of €400,000 plus bonuses until 2025 but his agent has asked for almost triple. Despite the player having only one official appearance Serie A (started in a 3-1 win over Juventus, won a penalty and scored a goal that was latter disallowed), Raiola wants him to be paid a salary of around one million euros per season.
The parties are far from reaching an agreement but Roma intend to do everything possible to keep Calafiori in the capital. Riola meanwhile is looking around for other possible solutions. Fiorentina and AC Milan are the other two clubs interested in Calafiori.
Fiorentina saw an offer of 8 million euros rejected by Roma in the summer. AC Milan on the other hand are searching a back-up for Theo Hernandez with potential to give him a real challenge in the future.
AC Milan have tasked sporting director Frederic Massara, who worked at Roma in the past and knows the player well, to scout the player and find a way to bring him at San Siro. Massara supported the Italy U-21 talent after a near career-ending knee injury he suffered two years ago in the Youth League and the two remain in touch.
