AC Milan have inquired about Houssem Aouar. The 24-year-old French midfielder will not be extending his contract with Lyon.
There is still considerable time until the transfer window opens but this is the right moment for clubs to keep an eye on those players whose contracts expire on June 2023 and will therefore be able to transfer for free in the summer. Among these there is the tempting name of Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar who is being followed with great interest by AC Milan.
According to reports from France, the Rossoneri are very attracted by the 24-year-old who can play as central or attacking midfielder. AC Milan are evaluating whether to make an offer to sign Aouar in January or wait for him to be available on a free transfer at the end of the season reports FootMercato.
The name of Houssem Aouar was mentioned by AC Milan when Maldini was discussing the contract renewal of Pierre Kalulu. Both French players are clients of the same agency, ICM Stellar Sports. Jonathan Barnett confirmed to the Italian champions that the 24-year-old will not be renewing his contract with Lyon.
Already last summer Aouar was close to leaving Lyon. Roma and Arsenal were battling for his services but a transfer did not materialize. Both clubs remain keen on the Lyon creative midfielder with Jose Mourinho’s side especially eager to add Houssem to his ranks.
Houssem Aouar was forced to miss the majority of the beginning of the season because of an ankle injury. He has returned to full fitness making six appearances and finding the back of the net on one occasions. It is not yet clear what could be Lyon’s asking price for January considering they insisted on a €40 million price tag until now.
