AC Milan want Chelsea midfielder to takeover Kessie role
AC Milan are set to fill the void left by Franck Kessie in midfield and are looking at Chelsea for his successor.
Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie joined Barcelona last summer on a free transfer from AC Milan after refusing to extend his contract with the Italian. A shocking move considering that months earlier he said he was renewing. Equally surprising was AC Milan’s decision not to replace Kessie with another central midfielder of similar characteristics.
The Rossoneri brought back Pobega and signed Vranckx and Adli but neither is a direct replacement for Kessie. Things will change this summer with a proper box-to-box midfielder set to join the Italian giants. According to reports from Italy, AC Milan are seriously interested in Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Maldini and Massara are big admirers of the 27-year-old Englishman who is considered the prefect player to takeover from Kessie. Loftus-Cheek con provide the necessary energy in the engine room with the Rossoneri so far totally dependent on Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer.
The contract of Ruben Loftus-Cheek with Chelsea expires in the summer of 2024. The Blues have an option for a one-year renewal but the player is already planning his next move. With some many players joining Chelsea this season it’s clear that the space for Loftus-Cheek will continue to reduce.
Chelsea are reportedly willing to part ways with Loftus-Cheek if an offer of around €15 million arrives. AC Milan have a good relationship with the Premier League club and are exploring the conditions of a possible transfer. This season, the player has made 22 appearances across all competitions.
