Former Inter coach Antonio Conte will take charge of Tottenham Hotspur. Several Serie A players could follow Conte in England.
Tottenham Hotspur announced today they had sacked coach Nuno Espirito Santo after only 17 matches in charge. In an unexpected turn of events Tottenham are set to appoint Antonio Conte as their new coach. The Italian maestro will sign a three-year contract at 15 million euros per season according to reports.
The former Inter coach will bring in England his Italian staff. However, they are not the only names set to accompany Conte from Italy. The Italian coach and Tottenham sporting director, Fabio Paratici, are looking at Serie A for reinforcements.
Tottenham have promised important investments and Antonio Cone’s list of targets is headed by AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie. Journalist Nicolo Schira reports that Tottenham director Paratici met with Kessie’s agent, George Atanaga, during the summer and has offered the 24-year-old a lucrative contract of 8 million euros per season.
Antonio Conte is an old admirer of Franck Kessie. Conte tried to sign the AC Milan midfielder two years ago but without success. At that time, a swap deal was negotiated between Matias Vecino and Kessie but the Rossoneri ultimately rejected this possibility rating their midfielder much higher than Vecino.
Now, AC Milan find themselves in a very difficult situation. The Rossoneri are trying to extend Kessie’s contract offering him 6 million per year but the player is asking for more. The chances of an agreement are dramatically low and the former Atalanta is set to leave as a free agent unless Milan sell him in January.
