Belgian right winger Alexis Saelemaekers is on the orbit of Juventus who are negotiating a potential swap deal with AC Milan.
AC Milan had planned to start the summer transfer window with a nice €35 million budget immediately available from the sale of two players. Atalanta made the transfer for Charles De Ketelaere permanent a few days ago while the same was expected from Bologna regarding Alexis Saelemaekers. The Serie A club had an option to buy the Belgian winger for around €12 million and the transfer was considered a formality.
Alexis Saelemaekers did really well at Bologna scoring 4 goals and assisting 3 in 30 league appearances. The 24-year-old was one of Bologna’s key players in a historic fifth place finish that allows them to play Champions League football next season. However, the exit of coach Thiago Motta and the arrival Vincenzo Italiano has caused a change in plans and Saelemaekers will return to AC Milan, but only for a brief period. The Rossoneri will rely on Pulisic and Chukwueze on the right winger again for next season.
AC Milan and Alexis Saelemaekers will part ways this summer but it looks like he will continue to play in Serie A. After shipping two players in England, Juventus have turned their attention to Saelemaekers. New Juventus coach Thiago Motta would love to reteam with his former player and Juventus have already contacted AC Milan to inquire on the availability of the Belgian winger.
AC Milan have kept the price tag of Alexis Saelemaekers to €12 million, the same amount that Bologna were supposed to pay for him. On the other hand, Juventus are offering up to €7 million for Saelemaekers according to reports. That will not be enough to convince AC Milan to let the Belgian right winger leave after spending €10 million to secure his services from Anderlecht in 2020. However, the Bianconeri are open to negotiate another type of deal.
A swap between Saelemaekers and Moise Kean is on the table. Juventus rate Kean to a higher market value than the Belgian winger but after a season where he failed to score a single goal suitors are drastically low. Different evaluations for both players are not in fact the biggest obstacle of a potential agreement. AC Milan have always appreciated Moise Kean but his salary of €4 million million per season is considered way too high. In order to make things happen the 24-year-old Italian striker will need to halve his current salary.
