AC Milan agree Lille winger signing as part of Leao talks
AC Milan have reportedly agreed the singing of Lille winger Edon Zhegrova as part of Rafael Leao’s renewal talks.
The contract renewal of Rafeal Leao has been signed and sealed and will be made official in a few days. The Portuguese ace has put pen to paper on a new five-year agreement that reached a positive outcome after long tiresome negotiations. The key issue in the contract talks was the €20 million fine that Leao owned to his former club Sporting Lisbon.
Everything was solved with Lille agreeing to pay the entire fee to Sporting Lisbon. A surprising move considering that Lille and Leao were supposed the share the payment together. An agreement between AC Milan and the French club is rumored to be behind Lille’s surprising decision and it concerns the transfer of Edon Zhegrova to Italy.
According to recent reports, the 24-year-old Kosovo international could be the summer signing to reinforce the right wing. He could end up being the third Lille player to join the Rossoneri after Mike Maignan and Rafael Leao. The signing of Edon Zhegrova would cost AC Milan in the region of €10 million if rumors are to be believed.
The German-born Kosovo international has been on AC Milan’s radar since his time at Genk. Zhegrova has also been part of Milan Junior Camp organized in Pristina in the summer of 2012 and caught the eye of the Rossoneri also being named the best player. Kosovo goalkeeper, Saimir Ujkani, who has played for numerous clubs in Italy, has proposed Zhegrova’s name to Milan since his time in Belgium.
Edon Zhegrova has made 24 appearances with Lille this season scoring 4 goals and providing 5 assists. Good numbers but not exceptional ones. Nevertheless, according the local reports from Kosovo, there is already a fully agreement with Lille on the transfer of Edon Zhegrova to AC Milan. The 24-year-old will likely replace Junior Messias who is set to leave the club this summer.
