AC Milan have already identified the successor of Mike Maignan in case the French goalkeeper leaves the club this summer.

The future of Mike Maignan is one of the most important issues AC Milan need to solve and quickly. The current contract of the 38-year-old French goalkeeper expires in 2026 and unless an agreement is found soon there is a serious risk that the parties may follow different paths at the end of the season. The Rossoneri are trying to tie down Maignan to a new contract but without success until now.

Maignan is reportedly asking a salary of €8 million per season that would make him the highest earning player in the squad while AC Milan don’t seem willing to go beyond €5-6 million. A host of European clubs are monitoring closely his situation with Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain especially interested in his services for next season.

The Rossoneri fans fear that another important exit may take place this summer after the one of Sandro Tonali last season. AC Milan may be willing to part ways with Mike Maignan if a bid of at least €70 million is presented and according to Tuttosport his successor has already been identified. AC Milan want to sign Michele Di Gregorio in case of Maignan’s departure.

The 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper has done really well in the last two seasons in Serie A with Monza. Michele Di Gregorio has attracted a lot of attention with his impressive performances in the last two years. Newcastle tried to sign Di Gregorio in January but the Italian goalkeeper refused because he wants to join an important Serie A club instead.

Monza are rating Di Gregorio at €20 million and suitors are surely to increase near the end of the season. Until the end of the season Milan will try to find an agreement with Mike Maignan but the abolishment of the “Crescita decree” means that a salary of 8 million for Maignan would cost AC Milan 16 million in gross terms, a figure pretty high for club coffers reports Tuttosport.
