Barcelona to make offer for Milan striker

Barcelona are reportedly eyeing a move for AC Milan striker Andre Silva. The Portuguese 23 year old is currently on loan at Sevilla.

Andre Silva’s future remains shrouded in mystery. If a few months ago Sevilla seemed quite convinced to make his move permanent, now there is no longer the same certainty. In fact, in 2019 the goal scoring statistics of the Portuguese strikers have suffered a sharp decline with only 2 goals in 12 games.

Previously, Sevilla sporting director Joaquin Caparros had announced Silva’s signing on a permanent basis. An operation of around 39 million euros that would end up in the coffers of Milan at the end of the season. A good capital gain for the Rossoneri, who need to improve their balance sheet also through the sale of some players. But now that money doesn’t seem certain anymore.

Sevilla will assess in the coming months whether to exercise the right to buy Andre Silva or not. Goals and performances will be fundamental, of course. If the displays of the 23 year old Portuguese do not convince he will return to Milan and then find a new destination. Given the presence of Krzysztof Piatek and Patrick Cutrone the Rossoneri will certainly decide to cash in. Agent Jorge Mendes has many contacts around Europe and would have no problem finding accommodation for his client.

Meanwhile, from Spain, Mundo Deportivo reveals that Barcelona are also considering a move for Andre Silva. The Catalan club wants to buy a striker in the summer. Barca are searching an alternative to Luis Suarez, still prolific but not so young. Maxi Gomez of Celta Vigo and Luka Jovic of Eintracht Frankfurt are the back-up options.

Andre Silva

Certainly a prestigious destination like Barcelona can not be refused but Andre Silva must improve his game. Coach Machin sees him as one of the most important elements of Sevilla however the player must find continuity in front of the goal. After a great start to the season with several goals scored, the former number 9 of AC Milan has suffered a dramatic dip in form.
