AC Milan are set to win the race for box-to-box midfielder Assan Ouedraogo who is considered a generational talent in Germany.
The absolute priority of AC Milan during the January transfer window will be the defence. The Rossoneri will need to sign at least one centre back and there is a high possibility that Matteao Gabbia may be recalled from his loan at Villarreal. At the same time, the Rossoneri will try to anticipate the arrival of Juan Miranda if an agreement of around €2-3 million can be reached with Real Betis.
However, Geoffrey Moncada is also working for next season and AC Milan are involved in a heated battle for the signature of German starlet Assan Ouedraogo. The 17-year-old central midfielder is one of the most wanted players on the market with Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Liverpool, Arsenal and Juventus interested in his services.
Nevertheless, AC Milan are in pole position and convinced they can beat the strong competition of Bayer Munich for Assan Ouedraogo. The Rossoneri management have met with the Ouedraogo family on several occasions and recently hosted them in Milan to showcase the Milanello training facilities and the city.
AC Milan are negotiating a five-year contract with Ouedraogo and Assan will immediately join the first squad rather than the Primavera side. Despite his young agent the Italians are convinced that Ouedraogo can make the difference with the first squad and that a player who is considered generational talent in Germany deserves a chance to prove himself with the big boys.
Assan Ouedraogo has made 11 appearances with Schalke in Bundesliga 2 this season. The young central midfielder has scored one goal and provided one assist becoming the youngest goal-scorer in Schalke’s history. Ouedraogo has a €12 million release clause that AC Milan are willing to activate. The 17-year-old is a box-to-box midfielder, capable of using both feet, and is lauded for his dribbling, creativity and goal scoring ability.
