AC Milan are working to sign highly rated Torino centre back Alessandro Buongiorno in the January window reports Di Marzio.
As the January transfer window inches closer to its conclusion, AC Milan are actively shaping their squad for the second half of the season. Thus far, the Rossoneri have signed Filippo Terracciano from Hellas Verona and welcomed back Matteo Gabbia from his short loan stint at Villarreal. Despite these acquisitions, the defensive line remains a source of concern for AC Milan, prompting the club to explore additional options before the transfer window shuts.
Among the potential reinforcements, two players have emerged as viable targets within AC Milan’s reach: Lilian Brassier of Brest and Tanguy Nianzou from Sevilla. However, the Rossoneri’s first choice is an Italian player currently plying his trade in Serie A. According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, AC Milan’s dream signing for January is Torino star Alessandro Buongiorno. The club’s directors, Furlani and Moncada, are reportedly working to secure the 24-year-old defender.
Alessandro Buongiorno, who turned down a summer move to Atalanta, has continued to impress with his performances for Torino this season. His outstanding displays have even earned him a spot in the Italian national team recently. At the same time his market value has surged to €30 million. Torino are open to negotiating Buongiorno’s departure if their financial demands are met.
However, AC Milan seems reluctant to meet Torino’s asking price outright. The Rossoneri are unwilling to shell out the full €30 million figure during the January window and are actively seeking a more creative solution. Di Marzio reports that AC Milan have tabled an offer of nearly €15 million plus the inclusion of Lorenzo Colombo in the deal for Alessandro Buongiorno.
Lorenzo Colombo, a 21-year-old striker, is highly regarded by Torino, but the two clubs differ in their valuation of the player. AC Milan’s proposed deal faces resistance from Torino, who are seeking €22 million along with the inclusion of Lorenzo Colombo to greenlight Buongiorno’s move to the Rossoneri. Colombo, currently on loan at Monza, has scored three goals and provided one assist in the ongoing season.
In contrast, Buongiorno’s impact from the center-back position is equally noteworthy, matching Colombo’s tally of three goals and an assist in 19 appearances. Both players share the same agent, Giuseppe Riso, a factor that might be quite helpful in the negotiating process. AC Milan will proceed to other targets only if they are convinced that an agreement with Torino can’t be reached in January.
