AC Milan are seriously considering letting Yacine Adli leave in January and join another Serie A club.
In the summer of 2021, AC Milan decided to invest close to €10 million to sign Yacine Adli from Bordeaux. The French midfielder spent the season on loan at the Ligue 1 club and only this summer officially joined Stefano Pioli’s squad. The 22-year-old had a bright start during pre-season but has vanished from Pioli’s radar ever since.
Adli did very well in a couple of friendly matches so, obviously, it was expected that the young midfielder would play a significant role throughout the season. Instead, Yacine Adli has made only 4 appearances so far for a total of 114 minutes on the pitch. Very disappointing numbers considering the initial expectations.
Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara have an unexpected problem in their hands. It’s clear that Adli will hardly be given a chance to play regularly like it’s happening with De Ketelaere, another summer arrival going through a difficult period. Pioli views Adli only as an attacking midfielder and he’s fifth in the squad hierarchy behind the Belgian, Diaz, Krunic and Pobega.
At the same time, other clubs are paying particular attention to the situation of the former Bordeaux captain. AC Milan are open to let Yacine leave in January to play more elsewhere. Journalist Andrea Longoni reports that Sampdoria have made an offer to sign Adli on loan until the end of the season. His agent Moussa Sissoko will be soon at Casa Milan to discuss the renewal of Bennacer and the destination of Adli.
Sampdoria are looking to add a creative midfielder to their ranks during the winter transfer window and coach Dejan Stankovic favors Adli’s name. The interest is beyond a simple inquiry. Joining another Italian club could allow Adli to get more familiar with Serie A and earn regular playtime. Sampdoria is an option that AC Milan are reportedly taking seriously into consideration.
