AC Milan want to sign Atalanta right back Timothy Castagne. The two clubs are already negotiating a player swap.

The institutional relations between AC Milan and neighbors Atalanta have been positive and fruitful for a long time, especially regarding transfer market issues. The two clubs have done business very often in recent years with Giacomo Bonaventura, Franck Kessie and Andrea Conti joining Milan after some great performances with Atalanta. Apparently Timothy Castagne could be next.

The 23-year-old right back was signed by Atalanta in 2017 for €6 million from Genk and has become a regular starter in the last two years. Thanks to the incredible work of coach Gian Piero Gasperini with young players Castagne is now part of the Belgium national team. Timothy Castagne has also been used as right midfielder or left back this season in Atalanta’s 3-4-3 lineup .

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the performances of the talented full back have caught the attention of AC Milan. The Rossoneri have initiated contacts with Atalanta and the parties are already discussing a potential transfers. The Italian newspaper reports that Castagne has impressed a lot sporting director Leonardo who considers him a perfect reinforcement for the Red and Black club.

AC Milan are planning a cashless operation offering Atalanta Diego Laxalt in exchange. The Uruguayan has failed to live up to expectations and is expected to leave this summer. Laxalt is also a former player of Gasperini, the two have worked together at Genoa and his former coach would welcome him back with open arms.

Last year Milan purchased Diego Laxalt for €14 million after Ivan Strinic suffered heart problems. Although Rodriguez and Calabria have been quite reliable this season Milan are already thinking about upgrades.
