AC Milan are in advanced talks to sign Japhet Tanganga from Tottenham. The English centre back could arrive on loan.
AC Milan’s search for a new centre back is coming to an end. Tottenham Hotspur centre back Japhet Tanganga seems to be the chosen player to complete AC Milan back line this summer. Evan Ndicka is the other name on Paolo Maldini’s notebook but the English defender is an easier target.
In parallel with De Ketelaere, AC Milan are in talks to close the signing of Japhet Tanganga from Tottenham. The Rossoneri plan to secure the services of the 23-year-old defender in a similar deal to the one that brought Fikayo Tomori at San Siro two seasons ago.
AC Milan have offered Tottenham €2 million for Tanganga’s loan and €14 million for the option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season. Tottenham coach Antonio Conte has already given the green light to the player’s departure but the Premier League club would prefer Tanganga to leave with the obligation to buy instead.
Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici is expected in Milano in the coming days for final talks. AC Milan are optimistic that an agreement can be closed an a short time. The Rossoneri considered Tanganga’s signing in January but at the end the club decided to trust on Kalulu and not sign a new centre back.
The English defender made 19 appearances with Tottenham last season. It has been hard for the young centre back to break into Antonio Conte’s starting eleven so he is looking around for better alternatives. Milan on the other hand hope to repeat the success the had with Tomori, another English defender in similar position before he joined the Rossoneri.
