AC Milan have completed the signing of Lyon right-back Pierre Kalulu and the player will shortly fly to Italy join his new club.
According to fresh reports form l’Equipe, AC Milan are about to complete the signing of Pierre Kalulu. The 20-year-old Lyon full-back will leave the French club to sign his first professional contract with the AC Milan club. He will earn 500 thousand euros per year for the next five seasons.
The French newspaper writes that the parties have reached an agreement and the talented right back will be in Italy in the coming days to sign the contract. Kalulu refused several renewal proposals from Lyon who didn’t want to lose one of their most promising starlets.
According to L’Equipe, losing Kalulu on a free transfer is a serious blow for Lyon. AC Milan faced the strong competition of Bayern Munich for Pierre but in the end Kalulu preferred to join the Rossoneri. Just as it happened in the past with Theo Hernandez, the personal intervention of Paolo Maldini was decisive in convincing the French defender to join Milan and reject other offers.
Pierre Kalulu attraced the attention of AC Milan after some great performances in the youth Champions League. His signing became even more appealing when the player refused to renew his contract with Lyon.
The impact of Paolo Maldini’s involvement in talks with the French defender has left many wondering if it is likely that the former captain remains at Milan even with Ralf Rangnick on the bench?
