Defender confirms advanced talks with AC Milan
Omar Alderete could become a new central defender of AC Milan with the Rossoneri in concrete talks with Basel and his agent.
AC Milan will almost certainly make three signings in defense. The Rossoneri are in search of a right back, a left back (back up for Theo Hernandez) and a central defender. As for the latter role, Omar Alderete also appears to be on the list of targets.
The 23-year-old Paraguay defender plays in Switzerland with Basel. Alderete joined Basel last summer from the Argentine team of Huracan. This season he has made 44 appearances scoring three goals and providing one assist. His good performances have not gone unnoticed with AC Milan ready bring him at San Siro.
According to reports from Paraguay, AC Milan are very close to the purchase of Alderete. The operation is now on stand-by but everything could closed in the next few days.
Augusto Paraja, the player’s agent, when asked about AC Milan’s interest declared: “Omar has a great opportunity to leave now, we’re talking“. Now that the Swiss championship is over, Basel is ready to negotiate the sale of Omar Alderete.
Paraja explained that there are great possibilities for the transfer to go through. The two clubs have been in advanced talks and it is possible that the final agreement could be reached soon. Other teams are interested in the South American defender, as admitted by the agent: “A week ago, a Turkish club also made an offer“. Contacted by MilanNews.it, the management has denied being in talks with Alderete.
While Alessio Romagnoli and Simon Kjaer have done great at the heart of the back line this seasons other have been less productive. Leo Duarte and Mateo Musacchio’s poor physical reliability is forcing the management to sign a new centre back. The sale of the two defenders can not bee excluded too.
