CM: AC Milan complete striker signing
AC Milan have completed the signing of Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud on a two-year contract reports Calciomercato.
A few hours ago AC Milan completed their first summer signing. The Rossoneri have chosen Mike Maignan to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma. It seems like Olivier Giroud will be next.
According to Calciomercato.com, AC Milan will sign the French centre forward to take Mario Mandzukic’s place. After six months, the Rossoneri decided not to extend the Croatian’s contract due to his inability to contribute this season.
Maldini and Massara have been in contact with Giroud for a while. The Chelsea striker has agreed a two-year contract with the Rossoneri at 4 million euros per season. The deal will be announced after the Champions League final against Manchester City, so next week.
The 34-year-old World Cup winner has started to look for a house in Milan. The arrival Olivier Giroud means that AC Milan have definitely abandoned the pursuit of Andrea Belotti and Dusan Vlahovic. At least for this summer because the Fiorentina striker remains a long-term transfer target of the Rossoneri.
Throughout the season Stefano Pioli tried to adapt Rafael Leao and Ante Rebic in the centre forward role but without success. Signing a new striker was a priority for the club but Giroud is unlikely to have the same hospitality by the fans like Maignan. This season the Chelsea forward has scored 11 goals in 31 appearances.
