L’Equipe: AC Milan make monstrous offer for Nicolas Pepe

AC Milan are reportedly ready to break the bank for Lille star Nicolas Pepe offering €70 million for the young right winger.

French-born Ivory star Nicolas Pepe is one of the most sought after talents in Europe. His excellent performances with Lille have attracted the attention of the major clubs including AC Milan. Pepe will leave Ligue 1 this summer but his next destination remains a mystery.

The 23-year-old right winger has scored 19 goals and has provided 12 assists so far. Nicolas Pepe is the leader of a young group led by coach Christophe Galtier, now in second place in the French league behind only PSG. Pepe is doing extraordinary things this year. He had already done well in his first season in Lille, but in the second there has been a further leap in quality.

L’Equipe reports that an Italian club has made a monstrous offer for Pepe. According to the French newspaper Lille has received a 70 million euros bid for Nicolas Pepe, 10 million less that the asking price.

Although L’Equipe doesn’t reveal the name of the Serie A club willing to invest such a big fee on the right winger, speculations have emerged that the mysterious team is AC Milan. The 70 million figure could also be interpreted as a much lower fee but with high bonuses included and in several installments.

If Champions League qualification is achieved this season Elliot has promised to invest a lot in the summer transfer window to strengthen the team. The signing of high profile talents like Nicolas Pepe could be an important factor in AC Milan’s attempts to lure Mauricio Pochettino at San Siro. Only prestigious names could convince the Argentine to arrive in Italy.
