AC Milan are impressed by the performance of Verona defender Matteo Lovato and consider him a top target for the defence.
Today’s newspapers are praising the performance of Matteo Lovato in yesterday’s Milan vs Verona that ended in a 2-2- tie. The young Hellas Verona talent played the entire 90 minutes at the center of the defence and was convincing with his performance.
The 20-year-old proved against Milan that he is a defender of quality and character. Very good at marking, a little naive on the occasion of the penalty foul on Franck Kessie. Nice prospect with ample room for improvement. Milan too were positively impressed by Lovato’s display.
According to reports by Calciomercato, AC Milan scouts are very sure: Lovato is the right profile to focus on for the future of the Rossoneri defense. The 20-year-old former Padova is an ideal target. Suffice to say that the scouts in question had recommended the profile of Wesley Fofana to the management long before he left Saint-Etienne to join Leicester City for 40 million euros and become a regular starter in the Premier League.
Even Paolo Maldini yesterday admitted in a pre-match interview that Lovato was a target for the Rossoneri. “He is a very interesting player, he is young and has an important structure. Lovato is a profile that we like, but unfortunately we are not the only ones to follow him“. In fact, Juventus are another club bewitched by Lovato’s qualities.
A duel between AC Milan and Juventus is expected in January for the young Italian defender. For Verona that ideal choice would be a January deal that would allow them to keep Matteo until the end of the season on loan. Alessio Romagnoli’s injury could push AC Milan to speed up talks and Matteo Lovato bring at San Siro earlier.
