AC Milan will bring in two centre forwards this summer following the announced departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
AC Milan announced today that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be leaving the club at the end of his contract. The Swedish striker departs after having given a huge contribution on the Rossoneri’s return to Serie A glory. It looks like this is not the end of Ibrahimovic’s football career with the 42-year-old determined to continue playing for one more season.
Berlusconi’s Monza seems like the most likely destination for Zlatan. At the same time, AC Milan are reported to have already booked his replacement. Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic could take Ibrahimovic’s role as AC Milan’s striker next season. Journalist Andrea Longoni reports that he has received confirmation from the player’s entourage.
Arnautovic’s side claim they have already reached a total agreement with AC Milan on personal terms. Bologna are reportedly asking a fee of around €5 million in order to part ways with Marko Arnautovic. However, the journalist adds the he was unable to receive a confirmation on this claims from AC Milan.
It is not a secret that Milan plan to make a big investment for a new centre forward this summer However, with the exit of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the highly likely sale of Divock Origi, Paolo Maldini is looking on the market for a third options as well. An experienced player already familiar with Serie A could assist Olivier Giorud and the new striker.
Marko Arnautovic is ending his second season with Bologna with 9 goals and 1 assists in 20 league appearances. The 34-year-old Austria international missed a couple of matches this season due to a foot injury. Bologna is the second Italian club of Arnautovic after a short spell at Inter 2009/10. He could become the latest player to represent both clubs of Milano.
