New midfielder: AC Milan look at Leonardo’s old target

Ibrahim-Sangare-Milan

AC Milan does not intend to stop with Sandro Tonali to strengthen the midfield and are thinking of an old transfer target considering Chelsea’s reluctance to sell Bakayoko.

Sandro Tonali is not enough. AC Milan are thinking of another reinforcement for the midfield before the end of the summer transfer window. It is no mystery that Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara have been in talks for Tiemoue Bakayoko for quite a while.

Negotiations with Chelsea are in stand-by, as the Blues ask for more than €30 million to sell the French midfielder. The Rossoneri management also evaluated Lille’s Boubakary Soumare and Benfica’s Florentino Luis but even these are not easy or cheap transfer targets.

According to reports by Tuttosport (via MilanNews.it), AC Milan also have a fourth name on their list of names for the midfield. This is Ibrahim Sangare, the 22-year-old Ivorian defensive midfielder who plays in Ligue 1 with Toulouse. Sangare is an old transfer target of the Rossoneri ever since when Leonardo was still the sporting director of the club.

Compared to the other three players, Sangare has a much lower price tag as he costs about 10 million. His contract expires in June 2021 and Toulouse are forced to sell him in order to avoid losing their talent for free next year. Besides AC Milan, Premier League duo Tottenham and Arsenal are also interested in his services.

Sangare is very similar to Bakayoko, a physically strong midfielder (he is 191 centimeters tall), good at recovering balls and discreet from a technical point of view. For Milan he can be a better alternative to Bakayoko allowing the club to invest more to strenghen other areas.
