AC Milan are about to complete the sale of Jens Petter Hauge in order to fund a move for Josip Ilicic reports Sportmediaset.
Atalanta star Josip Ilicic remains a hot name on AC Milan’s orbit. The Slovenian has asked Atalanta to leave and change club this summer. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini in a recent interview confirmed that Ilicic’s time come to an end.
Contacts between AC Milan and Josip Ilicic have never stopped. Maldini and Massara are looking for a new right winger and Ilicic is a transfer target well within reach considering his salary and price tag. The Slovenian is now 33 years old and his contract expiring in 2022 would allow the Rossoneri to sign him paying a small fee.
However, the signing of Josip Ilicic is likely to happen with an important sacrifice. Sportmediaset reports that AC Milan are waiting to complete the sale of Jens Petter Hauge before buying Josip Ilicic.
The Norwegian left winger is very close to joining Eintracht Frankfurt and continue his career in the Bundesliga. The Rossoneri have previously rejected an 8 million offer for Hauge. Frankfurt must pay at least 12 million euros for Hauge according to journalist Sandro Sabatini.
Under these conditions the Rossoneri would secure a healthy profit on Hauge after spending €5 million to sign him from Bodo Glimt. Coach Stefano Pioli has no room for Hauge and has continuously demonstrated he doesn’t count on the Norwegian. Nevertheless, swapping a 21-year-old talent with a 33-year-old player raises many questions.
