AC Milan considering former Italy striker as Ibra’s back-up

The recent injury of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has forced AC Milan to search for a new striker and the Rossoneri are considering a familiar face from the past.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s 2020 unexpectedly ended in November against Napoli. The Swedish striker guided AC Milan with a fantastic brace that would unfortunately mark his last match with the Rossoneri. Another injury risks leaving him out for four more weeks.

An unexpected problem for the Rossoneri management. Now Maldini and Massara are looking on the market for a back-up striker. The most important condition for Milan is that the new striker must be familiar with Serie A and able to contribute immediately.

A number of names have been linked with Milan. Giroud, Arek Milik, Sam Lammers, Gianluca Scamacca and Pavoletti are mentioned like possible targets while according to calciomercato.com, Graziano Pelle could return to Italy and join AC Milan.

Graziano Pelle has played for five years in China after his big money move to Shandong Luneng. In 2016 the Italian striker became one of the highest paid players in the world earing around 15 million per year at Shandong Luneng. In a few days Pelle will become a free agent and the 35-year-old centre forward would like to end his career in Italy.

There will be a Milan derby for his services reports calciomercato with both AC Milan and Inter interested in him. The Nerazzurri are seen as favorites considering that it was coach Antonio Conte who made Pelle a key player for the Italian national team in Euro 2016.
