AC Milan and Antonio Conte are already planning the upcoming transfer window with Napoli star in sight according to a report.
Journalist Luca Momblano released a sensational report this week claiming that Antonio Conte has accepted the offer to become the new AC Milan coach. While the contract of Stefano Pioli ends in 2025, the 58-year-old Italian coach is expected to leave the Rossoneri after a very disappointing season with Milan out of the Champions League and Coppa Italia and never in the race for the Serie A tittle.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has played a key role in convincing Antonio Conte to join AC Milan reports Momblano. The former Swedish striker serves as senior advisor to Gerry Cardinale and RedBird. Club CEO Giorgio Furlani instead favored the name of Thiago Motta. Another clear signal that the current one is Stefano Pioli’s last season in charge is AC Milan’s decision to not invest during the January transfer window despite Pioli publicly claiming he needed a new centre back and a new midfielder.
Not only have Antonio Conte and AC Milan reached an agreement on a three year contract but they are also planning together the upcoming summer transfer campaign reports Luca Momblano. Conte prefers to play with a 3-5-2 formation with two strong full backs. AC Milan are well covered on the left flank with Theo Hernandez but Antonio Conte wants Giovanni Di Lorenzo on the right.
The Italian coach does not consider Davide Calabria a player suited to his football and believes Di Lorenzo would be a big upgrade over the current AC Milan captain. Giovanni Di Lorenzo is also the starting right back for the Italian national team. Di Lorenzo is more solid defensively and also more of a threat in attack than Calabria.
In fact, the Napoli captain has scored 2 goals and assisted 6 this season while the AC Milan captain has only assisted 4. The problem is that Giovanni Di Lorenzo has a contract with Napoli until 2028 and it will be difficult to convince president Aurelio De Laurentiis to let the 30-year-old leave unless a good bid is presented.
