AC Milan are the verge of completing the signing of Christian Pulisic. The American winger will joins Loftus-Cheek at San Siro.
During his short, but very impactful, trip to Italy in June, Gerry Cardinale suggested to the management team the signing of Christian Pulisic. After more than one month of negotiations AC Milan are at closing stage for the signing of the 24-year-old American right winger from Chelsea.
Until now Chelsea have stood firm at their asking price of 25 million while Milan never exceeded the 20 million mark. Today, AC Milan have presented an improved bid of €22 million to Chelsea. A figure very close to Chelsea’s asking price. The Premier League giants are expected to give the green light to Pulisic’s transfer.
The American winger has already agreed to a five-year agreement of €4 million per season. The desire of Christian Pulisic to join only AC Milan has been crucial during talks with Chelsea. Despite rumors about Lyon, AC Milan’s biggest competitor for Pulisic has been Borussia Dortmund. Nevertheless, the player preferred to join the Rossoneri rather than returning to his old club.
AC Milan want Pulisic to cover both the right winger and the attacking midfielder role. Just like Brahim Diaz did last season. Few Chelsea supporters will be sad to see the 24-year-old USA international leave considering his four frustrating years at Stamford Bridge. Pulisic ended the season with one goal and two assists in 30 appearances.
AC Milan are taking a big risk on a player who was once considered a generational talent. In the summer of 2019 Chelsea spent a high fee of €64 million to sign him from Dortmund but Pulisic failed to live up to expectations. Hopefully Italy will provide him the perfect environment to revive his career. At San Siro Christian will find some familiar faces in Fikayo Tomori, Olivier Giroud and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
