AC Milan are set to make an official bid for Charles De Ketelaere. The Belgian is the top priority for the attacking midfielder role.
Last season proved that only Brahim Diaz is not enough in the attacking midfielder role. The Spaniard faded quickly after a bright start. That’s why AC Milan have decided to buy a new player in that position this summer and have prioritized Belgian emerging star Charles De Ketelaere.
Journalist Nicolo Schira reports that De Ketelaere is the number one target of AC Milan for the attacking midfielder role. The Rossoneri have had positive contacts with his agent Tom De Mul. The parties have discussed about a five-year contract with the 21-year-old reportedly saying yes to Milan’s offer.
Charles is in fact the only target Paolo Maldini is currently considering. Maldini and Massara are totally concentrated on finding an agreement with Club Brugge. De Ketelaere’s contract expires in two years so Brugge are open to sell him this summer but only for the right figures. So far, Brugge have asked for at least €40 million in order to part ways with De Charles Ketelaere.
AC Milan would prefer to not spend over 30 million on this transfer. The management is in negotiations with Brugge trying to lower their asking price. The Rossoneri are expected to make an official bid very soon according to Schira. Interest in the talented attacking midfielder is high so Milan are trying to anticipate the competition of other important clubs.
The Belgium international has been playing regularly for Brugge for three years helping his club win as many league titles. De Ketelaere end the season with 18 goals and 10 assists. The young midfielder is often compared to Kevin De Bruyne by the local press. A pure talent that has impressed Maldini a lot.
