AC Milan have inquired about Belgium defender Arthur Theate. The 21-year-old has had an immediate impact in Serie A.
The injury of Fikayo Tomori and changed and complicated AC Milan’s plans for the defence. The Rossoneri thought about relying on Kalulu and Gabbia until the end of the season but, with Tomori set to stay out one month, AC Milan have no other option but to sign a new centre back.
Botman, Bailly, Diallo and Bremer have been linked with the the Rossoneri. However, a new name is on Paolo Maldini’s radar. Tuttosport reports that AC Milan have inquired about Bologna centre back Arthur Theate.
The Belgium defender joined Bologna last summer and immediately has had a positive impact in Serie A. Theate has become a regular starter for Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side recording 18 appearances so far (scoring 2 goals) and attracting the attention of AC Milan along the way.
Arthur is a left-footed and physical defender. He is 186 cm tall and is very good at playing as both center-right and center-left. In cases of emergency Theate has occupied the left-back position. A useful feature for AC Milan who have faced problems in the absence of Theo Hernandez.
Bologna signed Arthur Theate on loan with obligation to buy for a fee of €5 million from Oostende. The 21-year-old defender currently has a market value of around €10 million that is destined to increase. Theate has lately become part of the Belgium national team making his debut against Wales.
