Never before European top clubs have been spending big money like this season. Here are the 10 most expensive purchases of the summer… so far.

10- Vinicius Junior| Real Madrid 45 Mill. €

With Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Real Madrid for Juventus his replacement at Los Merengues could be none other than Flamengo’s teenage star Vinicius Junior. It will not be easy for the Brazilian wonderkid but the talent is there.

The Spanish giants had agreed a transfer since May 2017 but it could only become effective after his 18th birthday. The 45 million euros spent for him make Vinicius the most expensive under 19 ever. Next season he will be joined in Madrid by another Brazilian prodigy like compatriot Rodrygo for nearly the same transfer fee.

The exciting new acquisition of Real is often compared to Neymar both for his style of play and his on pitch behavior. Hopefully he’ll be able to perform under pressure at Santiago Bernabeu.

Former teammate Fernandinho made headlines a couple of seasons ago when he joined Manchester City for 40 million euros but now Fred becomes Shakhtar Donetsk’s most expensive departure ever at 59 million euros.

The 25 year old central midfielder was on the brink of joining City last January but he will play for city-rivals of Manchester United instead. Hopefully the Brazilian will be able to satisfy Jose Mourinho’s tough demands.

Players like Fred are definitely in short supply these days. Technical gifted defensive midfielders, who can both destroy, but also act as playmakers. A player that can keep his team together on both ends of the pitch acting like the glue that can stretch to create flexibility in midfield.
