AC Milan have reached an agreement with Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders on personal terms. Talks ongoing with AZ Alkmaar .
AC Milan plan to strengthen their midfield even more. The Rossoneri have just welcomed Ruben Loftus-Cheek during the day. The Englishman has signed a long-term contract and his transfer could cost a total of a €20 million, add-ons included. However, in addition to the Englishman, AC Milan have also targeted Tijjani Reijnders to improve the midfielder.
According to reports by La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan have agreed personal terms with Tijjani Reijnders on a five-year deal. Reijnders has said yes to AC Milan’s proposal of 1.7 million per season. The 24-year-old Dutch midfielder had attracted interest from several Premier League clubs but he has prioritized a transfer to Milan.
AC Milan have now opened talks with AZ Alkmaar to reach an agreement. AZ Alkmaar want to collect 18-20 million from the sale of their star player. The Rossoneri are working to decrease that fee or otherwise structure it differently. The Italian club are confident that an agreement can be reached soon. AZ Alkmaar are partially owned by Billy Beane who also serves as a consultant to Gerry Cardinal. This factor could help the operation.
1.85 meters tall, Reijnders is a midfielder who is well placed from a technical point of view, has game vision and often aims for the goal. He is an attacking threat with mid-range shots and given a significant contribution up front. In the last season Reijnders scored 7 goals and assisted 12. That is 19 goal contributions from a midfielder, excellent numbers.
Reijnders is a quality footballer who could be very useful to coach Stefano Pioli who needs to raise the technical level of his midfield. The Dutch is also a very versatile player. However, Reijnders is a very similar profile to Daichi Kamada. His potential signing could mean that Milan have decided to pull the plug on Japanese international.
